The Word

¹⁵ So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children.Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” ¹⁶ For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. ¹⁷ And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Aisha’s Analysis

Being led by God’s Spirit may seem like it’s unattainable, but God in His wisdom sent His Spirit to dwell inside us. If you are a believer in Christ, that means God is living inside you! Think of it: you don’t have to go anywhere else to get God. He’s already within you. He’s with you wherever you go! 

When we received God’s Spirit, we became His kids. What a beautiful picture of how God transforms us and brings us into His very own family. As children of God, we belong to Him and possess an innate desire to obey Him. Obeying God is never burdensome for a child of God. Why? Because God’s Spirit is inside us empowering us to obey. We couldn’t obey God by ourselves. That’s why God sent His Spirit to help us. 

You may be thinking: I would like to follow God in theory, but how can I really be sure that I’m following Him? That’s where trust comes in. If you are going in a direction that God does not want you to go, you’ve got to trust that He’ll redirect you where you need to go. Being led of the Spirit is a completely natural and effortless result of being His child. We just have to tune into His voice and set our hearts to follow and obey Him. He’ll do the rest.

Application

A great way to hear God’s voice is to read the scriptures which were inspired by the Holy Spirit. Hear the echo of His voice in the pages. Make time in your schedule to read the Bible every day. It will change your life for the better!

Additionally, you can cultivate God’s presence by acknowledging Him throughout your day. Don’t go through life alone. God is always there, ready to move in a powerful way. Whether it’s you or your situation, things just cannot stay the same when God enters the scene. He’s a game changer.

Father God, thank You for bringing me into Your very own family. You brought me in. Now, I’m Yours forever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
