The Word

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’

Reflection

Imagine two ice cream shops, one of them has only one flavor available, it’s not that the shop is out of the others, but they only serve one flavor. And only one type of topping. But the other ice cream shop has vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, chocolate chip cookie dough, raspberry cheesecake, butter pecan, butterbeer (shout-out to Harry Potter fans!), rocky road, and others you’ve never heard about but can’t wait to try. And chocolate syrup, caramel, marshmallow cream, whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, even cookies and cereal to top it off with. And don’t forget the containers, you can use a a flat-bottom cone, a crepe, a waffle cone, a waffle bowl, or even put it on a waffle. Where will you get your ice cream from? Yeah, that’s what I thought. 

Heaven is like the ice cream store with every variety imaginable. I’m not talking about an extreme sugar rush, but all nations, all cultures, all languages, all peoples coming together to praise God. It’s different flavors and textures coming together to make a delicious ice cream sundae. 

Application

Look at life from the perspective of someone who doesn’t look like you, get to know their upbringing and culture, maybe over ice cream! 

Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank You so much for such a diverse family! Help me to listen and understand the cultures of my brothers and sisters. In Your Name I pray, amen.
