¹⁰ For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Aisha’s Analysis

Today’s verse reminds us that God is in control. No matter what has happened, whether it was in or outside your control, being in Christ Jesus gives us hope for a fresh start.

Similar to doing a factory reset on your phone or rebooting your computer, God has rebooted humankind by way of Christ Jesus. We no longer need to be in bondage and weighed down by the trappings of sin. God has totally freed us to go and do the good things He planned for us long ago. Hallelujah! 

This should encourage us all to live unencumbered by the cares of this world and walk with a spring in our step. We are God’s own handiwork. Our lives are covered in the fingerprints of God and display His workmanship. How blessed are we who carry the very Truth of God in our souls and live it out day by day. 

Application

It’s not always easy and can be very costly, but I don’t think I’ve ever been more satisfied or at peace than when I obey God and follow Him. Are you letting God have His way in your life? 

As an act of your love and trust in God, start paying attention to your thought life. Do you find yourself worried, anxious, angry, sad, tired, apathetic, distracted, hopeless? In those moments, shift your attention to Ephesians 2:10 and if you can, say it aloud: “I am God’s masterpiece. He has created me anew in Christ Jesus, so I can do the good things He planned for me long ago.” 

Prayer

Father God, thank You for giving me a fresh start in Christ Jesus. I surrender my fears and receive Your plan for my life–whatever that looks like. I trust You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
