Life’s Greatest Questions… Anything Is Possible with God

The Word

10 Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”

11 So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? 12 Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

13 But he said, “O my Lord, please send by the hand of whomever else You may send.”

14 So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and He said: “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And look, he is also coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.

Exodus 4:10-15

Reflection

Moses was rejected by his people, a killer, and slow of speech and tongue. There was nothing special about Moses that would make him out to be the greatest leader in the history of the Jewish nation. He had no competence in his ability to do anything of worth besides being a shepherd to his father-in-law’s flock. His competence was in his contentment to do the bare minimum that life offered. Moses gave up the moment he had to flee from Egypt.

But God had a bigger plan for Moses. Not only did God proclaim that He was the one who made Moses as he was, but in His grace and mercy, provided Moses with a mouthpiece through his brother Aaron. God pushed Moses to be who He knew that Moses could be, no matter what it took. He took an ordinary man and made him extraordinary. All it took was 40 years of humility to finally give Moses a chance to be molded by God.

Application

If God can take a man like Moses and turn him into a great leader, can you think of what God could do with you? If you walk humbly with God, He will direct your path, give you purpose, and push you to be everything that you are capable of being. You just need to believe that God is worth your trust and obedience.

Prayer

Father, You made something extraordinary with Moses and created a great leader for Your people. I pray that you will use me to achieve great things. Help me to trust, obey and walk humbly with You. Let me be a conduit to Your grace and mercy for this world. In Jesus’ name, amen.
