The church of Jesus Christ was established and ordained by God two millennia ago. It is His instrument to bring the message of God’s kingdom which is revealed through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. During this two-thousand-year history, the church endured persecutions, famines, divisions, spiritual abuse, and droughts. Even in our beloved country, we have seen the church at its ugliest and at its lowest.
Still, it is also the church which responded during this time to bring things back into order. Men and women of God challenged the status quo and bravely fought for justice in a broken system. God raised men and women after His own heart to bring righteousness and justice to the church. I believe God always deals with His church and people first, before bringing changes to the land.
I believe this is true for the churches today, and we have strayed away from God’s ways and forgotten what and why He has established His church in the first place. I believe we, as the global church, need to repent from our status quo, and return to God’s plan for the church to take the hope of the gospel to the world.
Today we get to pray for the global church of Jesus, especially in our nation.
My prayer for the global church is that the church will respond with the good news of Jesus Christ. I truly believe if we are looking for lasting changes, no amount of education or programs will be able to change the hearts of men. It will take more than systems or programs to transform the heart of man, to repent of his sins, and for the oppressed to forgive.
I pray that the church will repent of our former ways.
I pray that the church will respond with compassion and mercy.
I pray that the church will stand on the truth of God’s Word.
I pray that the church will not stand idle, but be the instruments for change in this world.
I pray that God will hear our cries as we humble ourselves and pray.
I pray that God will empower His people to be courageous and stand for the truth of God’s Word.
I pray that God will enable His people to share God’s love with those who are in pain.
I pray that God will have mercy on us.
