Stephen F. Meyer once said, “Science done right, points towards God.”
I firmly believe this statement and it resonates with my own life. At a young age, while living in Sweden, my teacher told my parents that I was forced into Christianity and that her goal was to get me out of it, and science was her way to do it. She had no idea that science ended bringing me closer to God rather than further away.
I spent my middle school and high school years debating religion and science with random people on messages boards. I do not think my arguments were that good, but it made me research and to find answers for questions that I did not have. The pastor of the church I attended at that time enjoyed apologetics and invited J.P Moreland to speak to the congregation multiple times. I loved the discussion and the brilliant minds behind the science and arguments for there being a God.
Later in college, I came across a Christian apologetic speaker by the name of RC Metcalf and I was introduced to an organization called CrossExamined.org. Frank Turek, who led this organization, co-authored a book with Norman Geisler called, “I don’t have enough faith to be an Atheist”. This book, together with my love for apologetics, brought me into a deeper understanding of how science points to a living God rather than the other way around. The book brought a clear understanding of all the evidence for there being a Creator and then to Christianity and the salvation message. That it takes more faith to be an atheist than the other way around.
I have seen what the other side offers and how empty their arguments are. Many times we fall into the trap of the devil because we fail to do the research required to find the truth. We live our lives as a Christian and we do not take the time to truly understand the magnificence behind our creator. Any frivolous argument against God makes us question our faith, yet…we do not do anything about it except hide.
My challenge to you is simple, if science is a stumbling block to your faith, do not run from it. Running from it only makes it worse. No, instead take the time to research the evidence. Not only will you be confirmed in your faith, but you will build a foundation of truth on which you can stand. God is good and He is great and this Earth is the evidence of it all.
