Ephesians 5:25

-Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself for up her.

2 Timothy 3:6-7

For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

Paul says in 2 Timothy 3:1 says that in the last days men will be lovers of self among other sinful behaviors. They will forget what it means to be a man and thus capture weak women in their immoral behavior and thoughts. The boys of this time will not be able to stand firm on truth and are unable to come to a knowledge of what their roles are and who God has created for them to be.

We look at Ephesians and realize that men are to give up their lives for others and to be an example like Jesus was for the church. Though, it is hard to see this characteristic among many men in this day and age. Few can hold to the truth and thus they lead women astray by their passions and desires. They fail to grow up, fail to understand what a man is and fail to live out the calling in their lives. They run from their responsibilities and leave many women to pick up the mess.

God created set roles for both male and female in order to help each other, to develop a stronger relationship with God by letting go of their own selfish ambitions and desires. Men are called to be spiritual leaders and if we fail on this calling, we become like the weak-willed men that Paul was speaking about.

I have seen too many instances in my generation to know that there are fewer males being brought up as men than before. Yes, we can blame society for this and the sin that permeates. Though, once we are born again as new within Christ, the mantle and responsibilities that comes with our roles as men are laid upon us.

We have to be men before we can ask others to follow. We have to be men of God before we can raise a family and we have to be men in how we stand up to what is wrong in this generation. Get off the couch, do not let tv or video games take control, instead, focus on how God wants you to reach out to a hurting and weak generation of men and be an example to those around you.
