Reflection on the Previous Week

If you haven’t heard, Houston Astros won the World Series!  Estimated 750,000 Houstonians hit the streets of downtown to celebrate the milestone, a great accomplishment for a sports team.  Think about it, last year, Chicago Cubs finally broke their drought of winning a World Series title after 108 years.  It is Houston’s first World Series title, I just hope it will not take 108 years to get another one.  What is most exciting for me is how cool will it be to tell my daughter that she was born in the same year when the Houston Astros won their first World Series.  Priceless.

This past week, many of our contributors shared their testimonies.  I hope you got the chance to read their stories and if you have not, you can always read the previous devotionals by going to the calendar located below.

Christian testimonies mainly consist of three major components, 1) Life before Christ, 2) Moment of Salvation, and 3) Life with Christ.  It is incredible to hear the stories of God’s redemption through Jesus Christ.  I believe this is the greatest miracle that is happening every day, all around the world.  It is far greater than healing, prosperity and even the World Series.  An individual that mock & curse God, living for themselves rather than for God, all of the sudden change the course of direction to live for God?  Friends, that is not normal, it is a miracle that only God can do in an individual’s life.  Redemption is the most magnificent miracle, only if you understand the 1) magnitude of sin, 2) redemption in Christ,  3) process of sanctification, & 4) glorification.  What is your story?  How did God transform your life?

This Week on Starter

At City Life Church, we emphasize the importance of community and encourage our members to be part of the community.  There are weekly community groups called City Life Groups that meet regularly each week to 1) Study the Word of God, and 2) do the Life together.  Here is the reason, Christianity was never intended to be accomplished through individual alone but through the context of the church and community.  There are those who believe that the going to church is enough, while there are those who say that you can do Christianity alone.  I believe you need both, you need both church and community to live faithfully in Christ.  Our contributors will emphasize this important topic this week.

Our Contributors

Our contributors come from various professions and stages in life. Their unique experiences in their fields will help you relate to many of the everyday issues of today. Most importantly the contributions shared from these men and women are their passion for God’s Word. It is their commitment to Christ and the church, to exemplify through their actions that allow them to bring God’s Word to readers. I hope you will find yourself “In the Word” this week. JY
